Course Structure Copy
This course is structured into two basic components. If you have any questions while you take the medical scribe training course, you can contact an instructor for support.
The first part of the course teaches you in a stepwise approach on how to complete a medical record note. After you are taught the elements of a medical record note, you will perfect your medical documentation by completing notes on more than 40 mock patient scenarios. You will be able to view the clock, the patient scenario, and the chart template at the same time. With each section, you will be given less time to complete the medical record note with the goal of being able to document a complete note that is error free within 10 minutes. Being able to document quickly and accurately is a requirement for you to work as a scribe in a medical practice. Typically, physicians will see anywhere from 2-8 patients per hour so speed with accuracy is a necessary requirement to work with a provider.
The second part of the course presents and teaches core medical terminology and medical concepts. This material must be mastered to comfortably provide high quality medical notes. By passing the multiple choice final, you will have demonstrated a strong base of medical terminology knowledge that will be needed to work as a medical scribe.
You will also be introduced to “dot phrases” and templates that can speed up your documentation. Scribes that set up and use dot phrases and templates can typically complete most of the medical record note while the patient is being interviewed by the provider during the initial encounter. This should be your overall goal to master while completing this course.
